Wendy Williams has faced significant challenges recently, notably the sale of her multimillion-dollar New York City penthouse at a substantial loss.

This sale comes as the renowned TV host’s guardian manages her affairs due to her struggles with frontotemporal dementia and primary progressive aphasia, as diagnosed in 2023.

According to Daily Mail, the three-bedroom, three-bathroom penthouse was sold for $3.75 million, marking a loss of $822,000 from its purchase price in July 2021. This financial setback follows a reported lien on the property earlier this year due to overdue taxes amounting to $568,451.57 for 2019 and 2021.

Sabrina Morrissey, appointed as Williams’ financial guardian, has been overseeing her affairs for around two years which is the period which the tax balances were neglected.

Her caregiver confirmed her diagnosis in a statement, highlighting that while she still retains some independence and her sense of humor, she requires specialized care.

‘Wendy is still able to do many things for herself,’ the statement read. ‘Most importantly she maintains her trademark sense of humor and is receiving the care she requires to make sure she is protected and that her needs are addressed…She is appreciative of the many kind thoughts and good wishes being sent her way.’

The recent Lifetime documentary “Where is Wendy Williams?” shed light on her health struggles, including the impact of alcohol consumption on her cognitive health. Williams’ family has expressed concern, stating they are unable to reach her directly but remain supportive while she can contact them.

Frontotemporal dementia (FTD) is a challenging neurological condition affecting behavior, language, and movement, emphasizing the importance of awareness and support for individuals facing such conditions.
